This booklet was created to be an introduction to the subject of plant names for gardeners and plant lovers.
It was compiled, designed, and illustrated by three garden club members who made it a labor of love that continues to be enjoyed
and used by garden clubs all over the country. It is an especially nice gift to welcome new members!
Mary Wooster served as President of the Garden Club of Montclair from 1965-1967.
"What's In A Name" was copyrighted in 1976 and is currently in its 5th printing. A recent review of this book indicates that
its classic timelessness continues into the 21st century. While the internet today offers a magnitude of information, the
beginning horticulture student may be overwhelmed, or lack the basic data to enter for a fruitful search. We now see WIAN
in a new light: this booklet has become a guide to good searching on the internet by providing the basics. Entering various
names into a browswer searchbox will yield further information and images of the plant materials.
